18 July 2016, Hangzhou, China. Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (ZGH) has become an official vehicle partner of the G20 Summit with Geely Auto providing the G20 Organizing Committee with 327 Geely Auto vehicles which will be used by key departments such as police, fire service and airport security throughout the G20 period.

As the world’s leading economic and governmental summit, the G20 meetings brings the top 20 global economies together for a two-day period of talks which will happen in Hangzhou City’s Binjiang District, a short distance from the ZGH headquarters.

As an official partner of the G20 Summit, Geely Auto has moved to supply the organizers with Geely’s latest 3.0 Generation vehicles that include the GC9, Bo Yue SUV, Emgrand GS, X6 SUV and Emgrand EV which will be used in reception, security and police roles over the course of the summit. In addition, 18 Bo Yue SUV’s will be used within Hangzhou’s Xiao Shan Airport as guidance vehicles for receiving VIP airplanes and 60 Geely GC9’s will be used as police vehicles for official escort duty during the G20 period.

Zhejiang Geely Holding Group is a major manufacturer within the Zhejiang region and has established Geely Auto as one of the leading brands within the Chinese auto industry. Geely Auto first entered into the automotive industry in 1997 and has quickly raced ahead to establish itself as a new standard for the Chinese automotive industry. Over the past five years the company has invested a great deal in the creation of four international R&D centers in China, Sweden and the United Kingdom as well as four global design centers in California, Shanghai, Barcelona and Gothenburg, Sweden where Geely’s global talent base are producing segment leading vehicles.

In 2015 Geely Auto had its highest sales to date with over 500,000 vehicles being sold. In the first half of 2016 Geely again saw record sales with 280,000 sold to date. Geely unveiled its Refined Cars For Everyone brand promise in late 2015, the rewards of which have been over 500,000 cars sold in 2015 with 280,000 units being sold in the first half of 2016, two new highs for the company. The introduction of Geely’s Generation 3.0 vehicles, the GC9, Bo Yue SUV, and Emgrand GS has created a new standard for the Chinese automotive industry, with demand often outstripping supply for Geely’s latest models Geely is creating a new trend in an automotive market that is often plagued by slow growth levels.

As a leading Chinese automotive brand, Geely Auto has long supported major international events such as the APEC summits and also the Bo’Ao Forum. Geely Auto vehicles have also been selected by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for use within diplomatic service in both 2015 and 2016 with Geely GC9 and Emgrand EV models being chosen.
